Khorn Vuthy was appointed as new Kep City Governor

Mr Kep City Khorn Vuthy was deputy of governor of Kep province appointed as the new acting Governor of Kep City on January 18, 2024 yesterday after the former holder of the position was fired by Prime Minister Hun Manet on allegations of corruption.

Kep Provincial Governor Som Piseth attended the ceremony “Announcement of the New Acting Governor of Kep City”, where he talked about strengthening the implementation of roles and responsibilities of civil servants working for Kep City.

At the ceremony, Piseth announced the appointment of Vuthy as the new Governor of Kep City, adding that Vuthy is a capable and responsible official.

“Vuthy is a responsible official who works hard and tirelessly, does not quit, works happily, and wants nothing in return,” he said, adding that the selection of Vuthy was a collective decision.

Piseth added that Kep is a popular tourist destination, and the city requires many human resources.

He asked the Kep City administration to perform its responsibilities by making sure it complies with the laws and rules.

“The City administration must promote and strengthen the efficiency and performance of its duties and responsibilities,” Piseth added.

He called on all Kep provincial officials to cooperate with Vuthy.

“I called on the directors of the provincial departments and all officers of the Armed Forces to cooperate with Vuthy to perform their duties in accordance with the law,” said Piseth.

“The Kep City administration must ensure sustainability by strengthening the provision of public and administrative services to the people through the One Window Service (OWSO) with transparency and accountability,” he added.

He hopes that Vuthy will take on the challenges and strengthen this work, and work for the people with transparency.

Piseth said that the government’s work has five approaches, including strong leadership, obeying the laws, transparency, and eliminating corruption for better governance through reforms and avoid wrongdoings that affect the people.

Prime Minister Hun Manet signed a sub-decree on January 12 removing Kheng Yan from his post as Kep City Governor due to allegations of corruption.

According to Mr Hun Manet’s Facebook page, the Prime Minister stated that he was terminating “the position of the Kep Governor, who has abused his position to commit acts that harm the interests of the state and citizens. The Anti-Corruption Unit will investigate the matter further”.
