Israel’s military says it has established operational control over a strategic buffer zone along the border between Gaza and Egypt.
Israel Defense Forces spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari announced on Wednesday that Israeli troops had taken control over part of the Rafah border area and found tunnels used by Hamas to smuggle weapons into Gaza.
The claim was contradicted by Egyptian media citing sources who asserted that Israel was simply seeking to justify its military campaign in Rafah. Source: ARIRANG
