The South Korean government has again strongly protested over Japan’s repeated territorial claims to Dokdo Island.
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa said in a speech during a session of the Diet on Tuesday that the island was the territory of Japan historically, geographically and under international law.
This is the eleventh year in a row that a Japanese foreign minister has made such claims during an annual speech on the country’s foreign policy objectives.
In response, the South Korean foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement that Tokyo should “immediately withdraw” such claims.
