The European Union is extending its sanctions on Russia for another six months to the end of July this year. Intentions to this end were shared on Monday by the EU Council citing Russia’s ongoing warfare in Ukraine.
EU sanctions against Russia have been in place since its annexation of the Crimean Peninsula back in 2014. The scope of the sanctions have since been expanded following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The most recent round of sanctions includes a ban on the import of Russian diamonds.
